Veteran welfare session

Friday, November 06, 2009

The Victorian Branch of the Vietnam Veterans' Association of Australia (VVAA) is holding a series of veteran welfare information sessions designed to reach as many veterans as possible.

The aim is to get its welfare message across to improve veterans' personal welfare circumstances, encourage them to become involved in and known to the ex-service community and explain the services available and how to access them, including the Department of Veterans' Affairs and counselling services.

An information session will be held in the Tocumwal area on Friday, November 13, at 2pm at Tocumwal RSL.

Goulburn Valley VVAA sub-branch president Bill Lee said the welfare presentations had taken on more importance since the bushfires, where the association came into contact with veterans who were not prepared.

A range of ex-service organisations will be represented and pensions and welfare officers will also be in attendance.

For information, contact Bill Lee on 5873 5391, or secretary Kevin Heenan on 5829 2258.
