Interesting read

Madam,

The Riv heading `Some unhappy at the A group' makes interesting reading.

I was particularly surprised at the statement attributed to Cr John Pocklington that there was no conformity on how Murray Shire councillors vote.

Again, Cr Pocklington must have forgotten he first joined the A team to be elected to council in the previous election.

He stated then he ``was done over'' and was not elected.

In last year's election he stood as an independent and won a seat on council.

One long-serving councillor, a member of the current A team, advised me the A group was a stage managed group from start to the finish of the election.

Before Cr Pocklington was elected, I queried the council on the $1,000,000 investment loss.

At that time, councillors were denying the loss to me. The loss was later highlighted in the Riv September 24, 2008.

I asked Cr Pocklington to raise this loss in council and he was verbally attacked by some members of the A team for doing so.

It would seem the mayor keeps his `poodles' on a short lease to maintain the majority vote in council.

On another matter, council does not appear to be concerned with the $7500 cost of their farcical survey to fluoridate our water supply.

On the other hand, should a full referendum be conducted, they would have good reason to worry about a 90 per cent ant-iflouride vote, not the 50/50 guess attributed to Cr Weyrich.
