You should give your home a good `spring clean' at least once a year as part of general home maintenance.

Spring signifies new beginnings and, as a result, often triggers a session of `spring cleaning'.

You can spring clean at any time of the year, though, so if your house needs freshening up, do not feel you must wait for the warmer months.

However, do not expect a good spring clean once a year will keep your house looking its best.

The key is maintenance.

Here are some tips:

vacuum and mop hard surfaces once a week;

recycle items regularly; and

invest in quality storage systems and create a place for everything.
